Ariana Grande is the latest musician announced to perform at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards.
The “Thank U, Next” singer will be returning to the Grammys stage following last year’s controversy that caused the star to pull out of her performance at the annual music awards show. “see you jan 26 #GRAMMYs @cbs @recordingacad,” Grande tweeted Saturday (January 11), confirming her appearance at the upcoming celebration. The pop star joins previously-announced 2020 Grammys performers Lizzo, Aerosmith, Billie Eilish, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani and others.
Additionally, the Grammy-winning songbird is nominated in five categories this year, including Album of the Year for Thank You, Next.
Fans will recall, Grande was expected to perform last year’s event but relented. At the time, it was alleged the Sweetener star canceled her set altogether after being prohibited from singing her smash hit “7 Rings.” She even called out show producer Ken Ehrilich for claiming she did so because she was unable to “pull something together” in time.
"I’ve kept my mouth shut but now you’re lying about me. i can pull together a performance over night and you know that, Ken. it was when my creativity & self expression was stifled by you, that i decided not to attend. i hope the show is exactly what you want it to be and more," she tweeted at the time. "I offered 3 different songs. it’s about collaboration. it’s about feeling supported. … not doing favors or playing games."
Grande got the last laugh, though. She celebrated her first Grammy win for Pop Vocal Album in style — and in the comfort of her own home.
The 2020 Grammys will air live on January 26 on CBS at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m.
